NOAI Promote Oxidative Services

As many already know, NOAI has promoted ozone for more than a decade.  Ozone is found in nature ann it is eco-friendly, good for our well-being, and a sustainable resource.  Frankly, ozone is a force for good in our world although it can be a prblem when misunderstood and misused.  As an invisible and natural part of life, we can overlook the value and benefits of ozone.  The ozone layer around the earth protects all of us from excessive UV rays from the sun, but the ozone layer is not permanent.  It is constantly recreated each day as the rays of the sun intersect with the oxygen in the atmosphere to form the ozone layer.

A typical lightning storm is capable of creating over 200 tons of ozone as it passes by.  As the rain washes the earth, the ozone is purifying the pollution and pathogens as well.  That fresh smell after a thunderstorm is partially the effect of ozone.  Ozone is uses to sanitize fruits, vegetables, eggs, and meat before they are sent to stores.  Ozone is used in major aquariums to sanitize the water and keep the fish health.  Ozone have been used by dentist to treat decay and mouth disease, and it is used for medical treatments.  So, what is ozone's primarily claim to fame?

Though there are many incredible applications for ozone, ozone actually does just one thing.  It is an oxidizer.

We all breathe normal O2 (oxygen) in the air.  Using UV light or an electrical charge, we can turn O2 into O3 (ozone), but it only stays O3 for about twenty minutes then goes back to O2.  That is why ozone is sustainable and constantly renewable.

The third oxygen atom is loose and drops off as soon as it encounters other elements or moledcules.  When the extra oxgen atom attaches to other compound, they become oxidized.  Simply explained, the compaound turn into a more inert form.  Fire is a faster form of oxydation.  Wood turns into charcoal and paper turns to ash.  Slower oxidation makes iron turn to rust (iron oxide).  Very rapid oxidation is called an explosion.  So, we should all be familiar with various types of oxidation because must of what makes our lives better is because of some aspect of oxidation.

For more than a decade, NOAI has focused on the remediation value of ozone.  We are expanding the scope of remediation services to include other known oxidative processes.  Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is a liquid or gaseous form of an oxidizer.  CLO2 (chlorine dioxide) is another liquid or gas oxidizing.  NOAI advocated for the proper use of oxidizing processes for a variety of remediation services that include:

  • Infection prevention
  • Odor removal
  • Mold remediation
  • Neutralizing toxic building conditions
  • Cleanup of hazardous conditions

We now classify two categories of treatment as "Brute Force" meaning the ability to quickly treat strong environmental conditions, or "Finesse Treatments" that are applied ovder  longer period with minimal intrusion.

Brute Force Treaments

  1. Ozone treatments
  2. Decon Five fogging treatment

Finesse treaments

  1. Hydroxyl generators
  2. Dry fog generators

NOAI is primarily a training and certication organization that service the vast number of professional service providers.  Our goal is to better prepare and equip these professional services and to identify and grow a national netowrk of certified remedators who have the tools, training, and support to solve the indoor air quality (IAQ) threats that interfere and destroy our quality of life.

NOAI invites any and all quality remediation services to join our network as we grow a professional industry needed for better lives and a better world.
